The Irish Society promotes and strengthens Irish/Irish Canadian culture and heritage through a variety of events throughout the year, such as the annual Ottawa Irish Festival which takes place every March. Our membership and volunteers support the Irish/Irish Canadian community in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.

The Irish Society’s activities include:

  • Ottawa Irish Festival (previously Irish Week) held annually in mid-March, featuring a variety of cultural and social events, including the annual St. Patrick’s Parade and Party.
  • publication of our members' newsletter - Irish Society / NCR Newsletter 
  • Celtic Cross Memorial commemoration
  • other cultural, social and fundraising events

An elected volunteer Board of Directors manages the affairs of The Society. Our Annual General Meeting is held in June. People interested in joining the Society, or becoming active in the activities of the Society are encouraged to contact us.

The Irish Society of the National Capital Region was founded in 1957 and later incorporated in the province of Ontario on March 6, 1995 (Ontario Corporation Number 1119278), as a non-profit charitable corporation.
