THE SOCIETY
The Irish Society has been active in the greater Ottawa-Gatineau area in various forms since 1957. On March 6, 1995, The Society was re-organized and officially incorporated in the Province of Ontario as The Irish Society of the National Capital Region as a non-profit charitable corporation (Ontario Corporation Number 1119278).

VISION
The focal point for everything Irish in the National Capital Region
MISSION STATEMENT
- To strengthen the Irish/Irish-Canadian community
- To promote Irish culture and heritage
- To promote the interests of the Irish/Irish-Canadian community
- To create a greater awareness of the Irish Society within the college and university community
- To provide appropriate financial support to members of The Society, as required.
The Society's main objectives are the promotion of Irish / Irish-Canadian culture and heritage, and the strengthening and support of the Irish / Irish-Canadian community in the Ottawa region.
The Irish Society's activities include:
- Members Christmas Party
- Ottawa Irish Festival (previously Irish Week) held annually in mid-March, featuring a variety of cultural and social events, including the annual St. Patrick's Parade and Party
- publication of our members' newsletter - Irish Society / NCR Newsletter
- operation of the Irish Society's website (www.irishsocietyncr.com)
- Celtic Cross Memorial commemoration
- other cultural, social and fundraising events
